Limited to 300 bottles, this Highland Park bottling celebrates King Christian I and his important role in the Orkney Islands becoming part of Scotland in 1468. King Christian I of Denmark was a clever and cosmopolitan sovereign who during his reign, managed to unite Denmark, Norway and Sweden, a region that at the time, included the Orkney Islands where our world renowned distillery has been based since 1798.
The whisky itself marries together honey sweetness with tropical notes and spice with a finish encased in soft smokiness, showing the diversity of its influences, without every losing sight of our classic Highland Park style.
Bespoke packaging includes a stunning ‘teardrop’ shaped clear crystal decanter which is inspired by Nordic glassware and is held by a beautiful cradle decorated by a Celtic dragon head. A book included in the box, presents the background history of the King’s reign and showcases why Highland Park has such a deep rooted affinity with Scandinavian heritage.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Burnished gold and gentle coppery shades.
Nose: Honey sweetness that is always there in all Highland Park whiskies. Beautiful tropical fruit notes, with citrus peel. Orange, grapefruit and lime.
Palate: Pineapple and citrus are softened by vanilla and spiced, burning incense.
Finish: A lingering sweetness fades into a soft smoky ember alongside subtle ground spices.
